For any seated outdoor event, the necessary space between families and cohort groups is still required to limit the spread of COVID-19 if someone were to have it.

Alberta Health Services confirmed another 71 cases of COVID-19 in Monday’s update. Case numbers hadn’t been this high since May 16, when 72 new cases were reported in Alberta.

The number of active cases in the Calgary zone is 239 and the total number of cases in Alberta was at 8,067 with 559 active cases province-wide, as of Monday.

The 71 new cases came from 6,999 tests, or about a one per cent positive rate. AHS recorded 7,354 recoveries, 4,981 in the Calgary zone.

As of Monday, there are 41 people in hospital due to COVID-19, including nine requiring intensive care.

Alberta’s death toll from COVID-19 sits at 154, with no new deaths reported in the province since Thursday.

Hinshaw will be providing an update on the province’s response to COVID-19 later today.
